Product Review: OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark

I really love black nail polishes, so I'm always watching out for dark colours that aren't black. One particular colour that I really like is OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark.

It's a really dark colour that on first glance looks black, but it's actually a really dark purple.

Like all OPI colours you really can't go wrong. They are lovely, apply really well and don't chip like cheaper polishes. However I find adding a top coat really gives you a few extra days on your mani.

So if you're looking for a good dark colour that isn't quite black I highly recommend Lincoln Park After Dark.

Product Review: Illamasqua Neutral Palette

My next eye shadow post is of a great eye palette that I absolutely love. I know last week was supposed to be eye shadow review week, but I didn’t get a chance to post this one.

I first must confess that it isn’t actually mine, but my mums. She lent it too me while she’s on holidays and I’ve been making very good use of it.

Introducing Illamasqua’s Neutral Palette. This is a very Illamasqua neutral palette. So as well as having brown and cream, there’s black and a very striking gold.

This palette is great. I really love it. All the colors are lovely and work great together. They are also great staples for your make-up bag as well.

The cream is a great neutral that you can use as a base. The brown is a great matte color. I tend to use this on top of the gold one to add some more depth. The gold is really lovely. It’s not just a straight gold, but has a darker smoky look to it. The black is just a great black shade. I use it as a liner as well.

All in all I would have to say that it’s a great palette to have in your make-up bag and you really can’t go wrong with Illamasqua.

Product Review: Guerlain Ombre Eclat Duo and Liner

So I thought since I had already done 2 eye shadow reviews this week I would make it Eye Shadow week.

A favorite make-up brand of mine has always been Guerlain. I started using their foundation when I was about 16 and haven’t stopped using their products since. One of their products that I’m obsessed with is their Ombre Eclat Duo and Liner.

These sets have two eye shadows and one gel liner, which is really handy as you have everything you need to create a great eye look in one.

I have the following colors...

L’Heure Fumee 308

You can see it has been used and abused...

L’Heure Bleue 381

L’Heure De Nuit 383

This one is a really great color palette for a smoky eye.

I really can’t rave about this product enough. I’ve been using them since about 2007/2008. It’s been a constant in my make-up bag.

The eye shadows are great. They have this beautiful pearl look to them so they really bring your eye to life. They also stay in place, which is a biggie for me when it comes to eye shadow. I hate the bad crease look that happens when an eye shadow move around. The gel liners that also come with the kit are amazing. I’m a huge gel liner fan and have tried about 5 different ones, and I have to say this one is pretty good. I tend to use the liner a lot without using the shadows.

So not only is it an eye shadow investment but it’s also a great gel liner investment.

I’m not sure how much it costs here, but I know you can buy the Duo and Liner from Sephora for $54, so I’m guessing in Australia it will be around $75/80.

Product Review: NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Cordura

Following on from my product review on NARS Fezeye shadow, I thought I would do another product review on a duel eye shadow palette that I have also from NARS, Cordura.

Cordura has a bronze/brown color and a reddish gray color. They each are quite shimmery and also have some glitter/gold-like flecks throughout, so they are really pretty. Both colors work really well together and the gray shade works great as an eyeliner as well. I like using it as an eyeliner, because not only does it compliment the other color well, but is also good to create a smoky eye without being as harsh as black eyeliner.

Like all other NARS products these have a great color pigment that really stays on for the whole day or night. Also because they are a subtle shimmer they don’t get everywhere. I hate when you have a shimmer shadow and as soon as you touch your eyelid the powder gets everywhere.

So once again NARS delivers on an amazing product.

You can buy NARS from Mecca Cosmetica

Product Review: NARS Eyeshadow in Fez

I love NARS products. They have such great colors and their products are just lovely. I've done a compare of their bronzer Laguna and their mini multiples. So I thought it would be good to do a product review of another one of their products that I love, their eye shadow Fez.

Fez is a really great warm brown hue. When you look at the color, it has a really nice bronze look to it. The color is also metallic, but not too shimmery that it can’t be wore during the day.

I find it applies really well and doesn’t get everywhere like some metallic shadows do. I also find that when I put it on of a morning before work it’s still there by the end of the day.

So if you are in the market for a metallic brown/bronze eye shadow I highly recommend NARS’ Fez. Plus how awesome is the name Fez.

You can buy NARS from Mecca Cosmetica.
