Product Review: OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark

I really love black nail polishes, so I'm always watching out for dark colours that aren't black. One particular colour that I really like is OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark.

It's a really dark colour that on first glance looks black, but it's actually a really dark purple.

Like all OPI colours you really can't go wrong. They are lovely, apply really well and don't chip like cheaper polishes. However I find adding a top coat really gives you a few extra days on your mani.

So if you're looking for a good dark colour that isn't quite black I highly recommend Lincoln Park After Dark.

The most expensive Manicure I've ever had

On Tuesday the lovely ladies at ACP magazines took my boss and me to the Park Hyatt for Manicures. It was an amazing spa that we walked into. Lovely, relaxing and everything that you want a day spa to be.

We got to chose our colours and also got told that we got to keep the bottles after. Choosing a colour is always the hardest part. I ended up going with "You Don't Know Jacques!". And then the pampering began! A hour of pure bliss in our own private rooms with headed spa chairs. I'm slightly shamed to say I did fall asleep.

All in all the experience was pretty amazing. I decided to grab a spa book on my way out because it was a lovely spa.

It was when I got home that I realized I just had a $120 dollar manicure. That's right $120....WOW.

But totally worth it.

Lust Have It – ABBW Luxury Lust Pack

We really did get extra special treatment at the ABBW. Part of said extra special treatment was a special Luxury Lust Pack from Lust Have It.

This is my 3rd Lust Have It pack and I have to say I’m really impressed. I wasn’t sure what the Product
Sample Boxes would be like here in Australia and I’m pleased to announce that they have really lived up to expectations.

We did get spoilt with our ABBW Luxury Lust Packs as they did feature some full size product. Here is the full list of everything in our packs:

Mirenesse Secret Weapon Mascara – Before the Lust Have It packs I hadn’t really heard too much about Mirenesse, but from what I’ve tested they do nice products so I’m really looking forward to testing out this mascara. I also really like that it’s tube mascara, which makes for really easy to remove. No more panda eyes.

OPI Lincoln Park After Dark – This is part of the Touring America collection. It's a really nice dark purple color; it looks almost black in the bottle. I really love OPI nail polishes so I’m really looking forward to testing this out.

Pure Fiji Coconut Milk Shower Gel – We got this is our last Luxury Lust Packs and I really love this shower gel. It smells great and is really hydrating, so I like that fact that we got more of it!

Kerastase Elixir Ultime – We also got this in our last Luxury Lust Packs last month, but I haven’t tested it out yet.

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer – I have heard really good things about this primer so I can’t wait to try it.

Nougat Rejuvenating Hand Polish – I’ve never heard of Nougat before so I’m eager to try this product out plus it smells really good.

Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Mask – I recently found out that apart from my really oily t-zone, I have dry-ish skin so this mask should be really good for me. I also love Dermalogica products so this should be really good.

BIOEFFECT EGF serum – We got this in the 1st Luxury Lust Pack and I have been using it for a few weeks now. I have to say it’s a pretty good serum. My skin has improved since using it and a little bit goes a long way. I’m happy that I got another one.

I love my Muff! – These are feminine refreshing wipes. So the “Muff” really is what you think. Personally I think these are a good idea and I’ll give it a go. Not sure if I’ll blog about it though; it is a bit personal so might not be something I was to post on the Internet!

I think that was a pretty amazing Luxury Lust Pack since it featured a full size mascara and nail polish.

Lust Have It! – September Luxury Lust Pack

This has been a big beauty week, 1st Beauty Box and the 2nd Lust Have It Luxury Lust Pack! And I have to say I’m just as impressed with this Lust Pack. In fact I might even like this pack more. Once again the packaging was really lovely…

In our packs this month we got…

Lancome’s Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara. I love Lancome’s mascaras! I haven’t used this one before, but I have used the normal Hypnose mascara and it’s great.

Pure Fiji’s Coconut Milk Shower Gel. I haven’t tried this product out yet, but it smells amazing.
Kerastase Elixir Ultime. Kerastase do amazing haircare products, so I’m sure this is going to be just as amazing.

Urban Rituelle’s Flourish Organics Hand Cream. This hand cream is really great. I used it today and LOVE IT!

Nicole by OPI’s nail polishes. We got “Give Me The First Dance” which is a great silver colour and “Prized Possession” which is a vibrant purple. I’ve just painted my nails, but these are going to be the next colours! Spoiler Alert! Well if you count finding out the next colours that are going to be gracing my nails before I actually paint them a spoiler…

And that’s want was in our amazing Luxury Lust Packs! I was really happy with the 1st box and I’m ecstatic with this one. So I really can’t wait to see what’s going to be in box number 3, but no doubt it’s going to be amazing.

Trend Alert: Skittle Nails

So if you read my blog yesterday about my outfit on Sunday, you would have seen that I mentioned Skittle Nails.

I first head about this concept at the International Beauty and Spa Expo when I was talking to some lovely make-up and nail artists. Basically the idea is that your nails don't match. So you can have each nail a different color or a few different colors on each hand.

The main point of it is to have your nails clashing. What Mandy (who I spoke to specifically about Skittle Nails) said is that it's all about mixing different types of colors and textures. For example having brights with pastels or mixing matte and glitter finishes. So think glittery black with a matte hot pink or pastel purple with a deep green.

Here is a re-cap of my attempt at skittle nails!

I've still got my Minx Gold color on my pinkie (my bf calls it my "grill" lol) and I'm also wearing Essie's Sand Tropez and OPI's Bastille My Heart.

Mandy did say that the best nail polish brands are Illamasqua and OPI, although her favorite is Illamasqua because they do amazing textures.

So what do you think?

Are you a fan of the skittle nails?

Some more nail art!

So today when I cut my nails, I thought I would try something else a little bit different. And this is what I came up with!

I tried out the last color in my Swiss mini collection called “Yodel Me on My Cell”. This color is pretty amazing, from the amazing name (how awesome is it!) to the superb glittery aqua hue! In fact I would describe it as a deep Tiffany blue, and who doesn’t love a little bit of Tiffany blue! Especially when it’s in the form of a box and there is some delightful jewelry item inside :D!

And I digress.

I thought I’d add a little something extra, and would paint my thumbs anther amazing classic OPI color, “Black Onyx”. It really is the prefect classic black nail polish.

Overall, I really like it! I really like using multiple colors to paint my nails with; it keeps life interesting. I’m going to try to paint each nail a different color next but I’m still working out my color theme.

So what do you think of my latest nail invention?

A little bit of nail art…

I have seen a few different nail trends popping up recently; everything from metallic, shatter color, prints and multi-colors.

So I thought I would try something different out. When I went to Zoe Foster’s book launch I got a goodie bag and in said goodie bag I got a mini OPI Swiss nail polish set. I really liked 2 of the colors, so I through I would wear both!

Incase the Instagram photos didn't really show the colors off....I did get a little bit snap happy...
I’m wearing both “Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous”, which is the glittery gunmetal color, and “Color So Hot it Burns”, which is the fire engine red color.

I really like the contrast between the monotone striking red and the glittery dark silver. I really was pleasantly surprised by how nicely the two colors look together.

What do you think?

Tried any awesome nail trends recently?
