Beauty-Box October 2011

So my October Beauty-Box arrived in the post and once again it had lovely packaging and looked all lovely and premium once opened. However this is where the excitement and good impression ended.

I was really under-whelmed by this box.

What we got in the box:

1. Beauty Tread: Biotherm’s Aquasource Moisturiser – Meh. I know people who like Biotherm but the brand really doesn’t do much for me. I liked their Broccoli serum that they launched a little while ago, but that’s about it for me.

2. John Frieda’s Full Repair Full Body Shampoo & Conditioner – I like John Frieda’s blonde Shampoo & Conditioner and I have used their products before and I like them for the most part. The samples are a decent size and I’ll most likely give them a go. We also got a coupon in the box that gives us $4 off the range in-store, but I’m not sure if I will use it or not.

3. Shiseido’s Sheer Matifying Compact Foundation – This I had a real problem with. I have very fair skin. The colour that came in my box didn’t even come close to my skin tone. This really brought down my consumer experience. Great something I can’t use because it’s the wrong colour. Not good at all. And it’s really bad for Shiseido as well because I’m not going to try out their product.

What they should have done was provide an invite to go in-store to get our sample colour matched to our skin. It’s really risky sending out foundation products in a pack like this because it’s never going to suit everyone’s skin.

4. Garnier’s Body Intensive 7 Day’s – Again I had a problem with these samples because they were in those little packet things. Personally I won't even both testing out these because they are annoying and it’s hard to get the product out. So wasn’t impressed with that either as I won’t be testing it out. Also to buy the full size product is $6.95, so if I really wanted to try it I would just buy a full sample.

5. Calvin Klein’s CK Shock for Him & Her – We got fragrance last month and personally I didn’t mind getting it again. We got a few samples so we can get a few wears out of them. I also find the size handy to keep in your make-up bag in your handbag so this was fine with me.

So all in all my experience with this box wasn’t great and I cancelled my subscription. The main reason was because most of the brands I didn’t find useful. I really only got excited about 1 product out of everything we have received so far. I also found the brands were more Priceline/Supermarket focused for my liking. Those are my feelings anyway!

Sephora Beauty Haul

I know what you’re thinking; you’re thinking “you didn’t go overseas Nat”. And yes you would be correct, but my parents did and I gave them a shopping list!

Now I would like to point out that I did give this shopping list to my parents before the ABBW. With that said I most likely would have gotten everything anyway because, well because I wanted them: that simple really.

What features in my lovely haul you ask! Check out the list:

1. Benefit’s Cha Cha Tint 2. Benefit’s Finding Mr Bright 3. Benefit’s POREfessional 4. Stila’s Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Lionfish 5. Nars’ Single Eyeshadow in Fez 6. Nars’ Duo Eyeshadow in Cordura 7. Nars’ Lager Than Life Long-wear Eyeliner in Burbon Street 8. Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Scorn and Vice 10. Illamasqua Powder Blush in Lover 11. Nars’ Bronzer in Laguna 12. Boscia’s Pore Purifying Black Strips 13. Boscia’s Luminizing Black Mask 14. Boscia’s No Pores No Shine T-Zone Treatment

Also because Mum spent so much I also got this awesome little sample pack from Sephora. I know just what I need EVEN MORE beauty products.

Well all I know is I won’t need to buy anything beauty for a really really long time

Haircare: Products I love at the moment

I normally don’t get really excited about haircare products. I’m not sure why. I guess skincare is really more my expertise in the beauty realm, so haircare has never really excited me too much before.
But! That’s right there is a “but”, there are a few products that I’ve started using over the past month that I really feel the need to share because they are amazing products.

The first amazing haircare products I love at the moment is Davines No 1 Finest Oil Non Oil for Wizards.

Pretty confusing name huh?? Well it pretty much has the same texture as hair oil without actually being oil. You can add it to dry or wet hair; personally I’ve been using it in towel damp hair and since I’ve been using it I really don’t need to use my hair straighter; no more fly away hairs, no more fuzz, no more frizz. It has to be magical or something! I’ve also noticed that since using it my hair just looks better, shinier, brighter, just all around nicer. This non oil oil has really put me in a good hair mood.

The second amazing haircare product that I love at the moment is Sebastian’s Mono Haircolor Shampoo and Conditioner.

I know technically it is 2 products, but they are a set, so they are number 2. I got these from the Maxted Thomas gala event as part of the ABBW. I have never used Sebastian products before, but I have to say I’m really impressed. I’ve been told they are great and now I can vouch for it myself.

But! Yep another but; the conditioner has a special factor. It’s foam. That’s right, you heard me FOAM! At first I thought it was a little weird, but after trying it I must say it’s pretty awesome. Since using the shampoo and conditioner, apart from having a fun shower experience, I’ve noticed my highlights look really fresh, almost like I’ve just had them done. My hair has also felt hydrated and soft.

My last amazing haircare product that I love at the moment is Nak’s Fixation Finishing Spray.

I started using this a few months ago and it’s really amazing. What I love about this hairspray is that it keeps your hair feeling like, well hair! It doesn’t leave your hair feeling really crunchy and ‘fake’ that hairspray tends to do. Once you spray it on your hair, your hairstyle hold plus you can still run your fingers through your hair, which I tend to do a lot.

And that’s it folks, some amazing haircare products for me to you.
