Product Review: Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser

I think cleansers is one area that you don't need to get too complicated or expensive. I find the key thing a cleanser should do is exactly what that name says, cleanses. You need a product that is going to balance your skin and clean everything off ready for the rest of your skincare products to kick ass.

One cleanser that I love and have gone back to time and time again is Cetaphil's Gentle Cleanser.

Cetaphil is great because it doesn't really contain anything; it's just a cleanser. It's great for taking make-up off at the end of the night and equally as great in the shower of a morning to get your skin ready for the day.

Also because it's gentle, anyone can use it and know that it's not going to strip or harm your skin. The fact that dermatologists recommend it is also an added bonus.

So if your in the market for a new cleanser I highly recommend Cetaphil. You can buy it from chemists, Priceline and stores like that. Plus you can buy one for under $10. Winner!

I think I have found the source to my shoe problem...

Yep I think this sums up my problem with buying shoes.

I never thought a pin would hold the answer. Feel free to re-pin if you feel the same.

This is really exciting for me (and the blog of course) and I'm really grateful to get a mention.

So thanks Primped!

Product Trial: Environ Range

A few weeks ago I was asked to take part in a trail of a few Environ Products.

Until then I hadn't heard anything about Environ so I was pretty keen to find out more about the product and brand. Environ is a South African brand, which is interesting because I've never used a South African skincare brand before.

I also discovered that my boss is a huge Environ fan and has used their products for ages. My new beauty salon also stocks and uses their products. So it seems that it has been around for a while I've just never noticed it.

I was sent three products to try from their AVST range, the Cleaning Lotion, the Moisturising Toner and AVST 1 moisturising cream. The great thing about the AVST range is that its suitable for any skin type and is designed to help normalise your skin out. This will inevitably result in better skin all round. I'm always on the look out for skincare brands that are going to work with my skin to make it better now to prevent aging (well as much as humanly possible). So Environ sounded right up my ally.

I've been using the three products for about a week now so I thought it was a good time to look at my initial thoughts.

Cleansing Lotion

What do they say? The cleansing lotion is a gentle cleanser that will remove make-up, dirt and other impurities. It helps maintain the natural acid levels of the skin, promotes radiance of the skin and leaves the skin feeling gentle and soft.

Moisturising Toner

What do they say? Moisturising Toner also assists in improving the appearance of uneven skin tone and contains plant extracts, which are known to help enhance the appearance of healthy looking skin. So all in all gives skin a healthy glow and helps uneven skin tone.

AVTS 1

What do they say? This product contains the lowest concentration of vitamin A, C and antioxidants in the range and is a unique emulsion assists in rebalancing and moisturising the skin. AVST 1 nourishes and conditions the skin, gives the skin a radiant glow and assists in improving the appearance of fine lines, uneven skin tone and sun-damage.

What do I say? So far this system is working really well. My skin looks great and I have noticed more glow and luminosity to my skin. Before I give a full run-down on the products I was to use them a bit longer. But so far so good!

Salon Review: Elysium

So recently I experienced a Beauty Salon break-up. Lucky for me this lead to me going to Elysium Salon in Waverly. I was recommended to go after my boss at work told me about it. And I would have to stay that it was an excellent choice.

When I booked, I booked in for a balancing facial which is there $99 one hour facial. This was the same price that I paid at my last salon and thought that a basic facial was a good way to get to know what the salon was all about.

When I got there I was greeted and given a form to fill in. Pretty bulk standard. And then I was taken into one of the treatment rooms. Danielle who did my facial was lovely and as soon as I was ready did a pretty in depth analysis of my skin. I didn't need to tell her anything much about my skin because she seemed to be able to pick it up.

And then I had one of the best facials of my life. OMG it was amazing. The whole treatment process was a dream and was tailored 100% to my skin needs.

Danielle also checked what products I currently used and what brands and made recommendations on what other products she thought I would benefit from. But not once did she try to sell me something that they had in salon. In the salon they do stock both Dermalogic and Environ. I have just started using Envrion for a blogger trial (post to come) so it was good to heard more about the brand.

Needless to say that I booked in for another facial and eye treatment before I go away on holidays.

If you want an amazing facial I highly recommend Elysium. All their information and menu is on their website.

The Beauty Therapist Breakup

Deciding to change Beauty Therapists is a big deal. They know your skin history, know how your skin reacts to different products, they know how you like your eyebrows shaped and also know your main skin concerns and how to treat them.

So deciding to leave it huge; it's like well a breakup.

I recently had a Beauty Therapist/Beauty Salon breakup of my own. My regular therapist sold her salon and although it pretty much remained the same, it was just different. I thought I would give it a go anyway and see how it was.

1st appointment my eyebrows were miss matched (I almost died). 2nd appointment my nose piercing go so infected that it was worse then when I first got it pierced plus I don't know what the eye treatment was, but it was not good! As such I thought it was time to go.

At first I thought I should call and tell them that I really wasn't happy with the service that I got there and as such I wouldn't be returning. I had been going there for over 2 years. But then again, like the breakup, is calling going to make it worse? Are they going to try to get me back in?

Lucky my boss at work is a big skincare girl herself and recommended a great salon (post to come later). After 1 appointment it's true love. My skin looked and felt amazing. And I knew I made the right decision.

Have you had to break up with your Beauty Therapist/Salon?

Just In: Rationale has had a facelift!

Well maybe not a facelift since the point of Rationale is that you don't need to have a facelift, but it's had a big change!

Yesterday I discovered that Rationale's products have new and improved Isotropic Formulations (I'm not a chemist, but that sounds pretty impressive) and are now skin identical and preservative free. The entire range of Rationale Skincare has been boosted with some medical funky stuff that has made it even better then before. All the packaging has changed as well.

Rationale have changed their entire range, but I'm just going to focus on their Essential Six since those are my Holy Grail products.

The Essential Six used to contain Niacinamide Serum, Rejuvenating Serum and Face SPF 30 in the day range and Preparatory Cleanser, Skin Refining Serum and Retinaldehyde Serum in the night range.

The Essential Six still has 3 products in the day range and 3 products in the night range, however they have changed.

Day Range

Niacinamide Serum (same as before), Super Antioxidant ACE Rejuvenating Serum (similar to before but new and improved) and PhotoDynamic Light Activated Day Cream SPF 15 (this product has changed quite significantly)

Night Range

ProCeramide Preparatory Cleanser (has changed slightly), Catalyst Skin Refining Serum (has changed significantly) and DNA Reactivating Night Cream (this product has changed totally)

The Essential Six has also changed price. The Day Kit is now $472 and the Night Kit is $418. So again hasn't gotten any cheaper, but you really can't put a price on great skin.

Pop over to the Rationale website to check it out for yourself!

I'm personally really excited and I'm going to save up for the Night Range since I'm almost out of my "outdated" Rationale Night Range.

Product Review: Sally Hansen Real Nail Polish Strips

I got 2 packets of Sally Hansen Real Nail Polish Strips for KK late last year. I've been wanting to test them out for a while, but I wanted to make sure I had the time to do them properly because I've been old that they can be a bit tricky.

So I was having a quite weekend and thought it would be perfect time to give them a whirl.

I have to say they are pretty tricky. It's not so much applying them it's the pealing them off from the plastic cover and paper backing. You also really need to take your time smoothing them out and ensuring that they are on your nail properly. But overall the result was pretty good.

I really liked knowing that once I was done my nails were dry and I didn't have to worry about smudging. I look forward to trying out the next set. Hopefully second time around they will be slightly easier to apply.

Met Gala Review - I love their lips!

I thought I would do a different style of review from the Met Gala. I love the Met Gala because the dress and couture is always beautiful and amazing. But in stead of doing a regular post on what I liked I thought I would break my favorite 2 trends from the Gala: the deep berry lip and the nude lip. They seemed to be the big make-up trends of the red carpet at the Met.

The Berry Lip up first. 3 lovely ladies were rocking the Berry Lip in a fabulous way.

Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren rocking an amazing Berry Lip

Lana Del Rey in Joseph Altuzarra rocking both a berry lip and a cape! How awesome.

Kate Bosworth in Prada rocking an amazing fringe dress and a Berry lip

My favorite Berry Lip sticks are...

Nars in Fast Ride

Illamasqua in Growl

Nars in Russian Doll

Illamasqua in Drench

Now on to the lovely Nude Lip ladies. Equally as glamourous.

Rihanna in Tom Ford with a very natural Nude Lip

Alexa Chung in Marc Jacobs also rocking a Nude Lip. I personally love the business shirt.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Burberry also going ah la natural with a Nude Lip.

Carey Mulligan in Prada looks oh so glamorous and the Nude Lip looks amazing.

My favorite Nude Lipsticks are...

Nars in Belle de Jour

Illamasqua in Sonnet

Amazing dresses and amazing lip colors = pure perfection.

Urban Remedy - Juice Cleanse Day 3

Last day of my juice cleanse! I have to say I was feeling pretty fabulous. I had heaps of energy, felt clean and light and was really alert. But it wasn't an easy take to get through the day.

Around lunchtime a few of the girls in the office went to get some salad. Man they looked amazing. I really wanted to have one! But instead I had my lovely repairing soup. It kept hungry at bay, but I still wanted a salad.

I managed to get through the whole day not cheating. It wasn't easy though. I'm really proud of myself for making it through not only did it really push my will power but I also feel amazing from it.

Overall this has been an amazing body experience. I feel fantastic! Plus I lost about 1.5kg, which is quite a lot for me and I wasn't expecting it either.

I didn't have too many detox symptoms. I did get a little bit nauseous a few times during the 3 days and had a little bit of a headache come and go, but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I have to say I was worried about running to the bathroom all the time, but that didn't happen at all.

I think I'm going to start making my own fresh juices/smoothies to take to work during the week to keep up what I started with the UR cleanse, so watch this space for an up-coming post on post-juice cleanse Nat!

I'm definitely going to be doing another cleanse. I would love to try a 5 day one. Now that would be a challenge!

If you want to do an Urban Remedy cleanse (you might not want to but your body sure does!) pop over to their website and check it out.

Urban Remedy - Juice Cleanse Day 2

Juice Cleanse Day 2. I'm not going to lie today was harder. Although I wasn't really hungry or tired I missed eating. But I didn't cheat! I figured anything in life that you need to work at has a better payout.

I have found my energy levels have been really good. I haven't been tired at all, which is fab and was one of the benefits I was really looking forward to.

I pretty much kept the timings the same as today only I swapped Juice 3 for Juice 5 because I really liked number 5 and felt like having it earlier in the day.

There was a point during the day when I saw everyone eating little snacks that I did feel very tempted but I managed to resist. Plus I had juice number 6 to look forward to! Yum Yum!

But I made it through the day feeling clean and energized! Bring on day 3.

Urban Remedy - Juice Cleanse Day 1

Juice Cleanse Day 1. I was so excited when my Urban Remedy Juices showed up Sunday night, it was like Christmas. I wasn't really nervous about the cleanse or worried about how I wouldn't go not eating. I guess the payout of feeling amazing was enough incentive for me.

I started my day with hot water and lemon as recommend (I do this every morning anyway) and had my 1st juice at 9am when I got to work.

Can I say YUM! I loved this juice! it was really tasty and also really filling.

I had the 2nd juice at 11:30 am

This one was really refreshing. I'm a huge lemon fan so I really liked it. It helped settle my stomach from the very filling 1st juice.

I had the 3rd juice at 1:30pm.

I have to say I wasn't a major fan of this one, which is weird because I like everything that's in it. So I only had about half of it.

I had the 4th juice at 3pm.

This one I really liked as well. It was really refreshing.

I had the 5th juice at 5pm.

It was really nice a good veggie infusion. I only had half though because I wanted to have some on number 6 to give myself a bit of an energy kick before pole.

And last but not least I had some of the 6th juice at 5:45pm
.

OMG! This was the most amazing juice ever! It had a lovely flavor and really is a great way to end the day.

Not once during the day have I felt hungry which is amazing. I thought I would having lots of herbal tea to keep hunger at bay, but that wasn't the case. I also feel pretty good! I have quite a lot of energy and haven't really had any "detox" symptoms.
I'm looking forward to see how I feel tomorrow.
